St. Josephs High School

Date: 2001
Location: Grande Prairie, Alberta

The opening of the new St. Joseph Catholic High School, marked more than the completion of another education facility in Grande Prairie, but the beginning of a new philosophy in partnerships between school districts, the City of Grande Prairie and the surrounding communities. The 110,000 square foot school, with room for 860 students was Phase I of the Community Knowledge Campus, an innovative multi-facility complex for community use.

The program for the facility was developed through extensive user group interviews. The findings were amalgamated and developed into a plan that met the current needs with an overriding focus of the future development potential of the site. Careful consideration was given to sustainability, flexibility of use and minimizing operational costs.
